Upgraded Character!


Worked more into it, starting to feel much happier. Once the feet are on i think it's going to be pulled together. The bubbley bits on her arm will be all normal mapped ect it's actually cloth padding under her armor to protect her skin from trapping between plates along her elbows, knees ect. I will be adding a few extras in along this week too and once she is complete, mudbox, texture and then i can get into the real work of making her armor.

Advice + tips would be nice.

-chews arm off-


More work. Well...yeh i had a phase of i hate my work yesterday but just got over it. Anyway i managed to get some work done again today and going to have a break maybe get my ass in tomorow too class for some advice from Dean. Seems blocky at the moment however i am basically BLOCKING OUT! Especially the side plates on her hips, thats just to check the length ect and give me something to work with. Some of the plates on her knees and joints need some work, belts to be added however i'm working the armour with the body too...making stuff hard for myself as usual. At the end though she's gona be elongated a little and made taller. Some unwrapping will commence if this is the sort of thing looking for, then i can add some real detail. So far it's at 1500 polys without the head.

Quick moods




Didn't feel so good in class today so stayed to get some information from Stas. He mentioned that my character needs a sort of heroic proportion so i went ahead and gathered lots of research on athletes ect and he discussed the legs i was modelling on my character. They do seem stumpy however this is due to me using a more realistic aproach to doing my blueprints so the legs could do with making a little longer just to give that 'tall' look and hopefully heroic once posed.

I have gone ahead and threw some images together to create some moldboards to help me with my bodies and inspire me as i go along. I'll probably create more as i go along to help me with armour ect.

More Refining


As the title says, just been refining it a little more. Will bring in the drawing on my hard rive tomorrow to show the teachers so they can give me any pointers for improvement. I'm thinking of going for dark brassy colour maybe for her armour instead of bright colours... not sure. I could have a effect of two colours maybe.

Some refining


switched programs for a bit and jumped into corel painter to start blocking out detail areas. Still not done around her hips ect. Just to keep me going then gona drag back into photoshop finish off the legs ect and face and helm and sort out whats going on with the top of her head. Along with all that i'll finally refine it all fully and get it into photoshop for some subtle colouring.

I finally added in the hand and some possible feathers which are currently on a separate layer encase i change my mind or don't think they fit. I think they might make a nice touch. Thought I'd get another pic up anyway for you guys to have a look at.

3d startup


Thought i'd get some 3d going because i felt in the mood and refreshed so thought i'd get some of it on the go. So far i'm liking it but could do with some advice maybe here and there but now is the time to get stuff off so i have time to fix things up.

Making progress.


Thought i'd add this up for some feedback, i elongated her legs a little by the way too. So hope this is more of a better standard than my last concept, i'm gona work into it after i've blocked it out. Added some possible orange emissions to detail the armour a little. I think these work quite well but they are on a separate layer incase i want to change the colour or delete em!

Blocking out!


Just blocking colour, thinking of shadows and adding in a couple of highlights. Under work at the moment! But enjoying it actually, I'm feeling the character a lot more. Her visor might be sort of seethru with metal to give a futuristic approach. I'm thinking of some nice glowing parts around her also, maybe the bolts. I will be adding guilding in areas of her armour too, gives me something more to do in mudbox then as well when i get round to it. So this calls for a more research but i'm enjoying grabbing images i find it quite inspirational taking a break and having a good look at other people's artwork or images.

Gnaa


Did some work on a new concept. Just got the pose really and worked into it. The armour makes her seem maybe shorter? but she's actually pretty tall it's just bulky armour. Anyway heres the start of it.

Bloody headache !


I didn't go in college today cause of a nasty migraine i was having. I think it's off my treatment so hopefully I can settle back into stuff tomorrow. I managed to get my blueprints almost done and dusted so thought I'd fling up a picture on here.

After the tutors gave me feedback i have also been researching into some artistic poses to hopefully redo 2 new concepts of my characters, just improved and to push my own ability.
